Being FIT is better than just being THIN

A recent cohort study was submitted to the Journal of the American Medical Association. It tested 2600 adults aged 60 and older. What they found was that among those people who weren't exercising, the ones who are not obese live longer and have less medical problems. What is more important is that comparing those who weren't obese and those who were obese but were physically fit due to regular exercise, the ones who had regular exercise were ill less and lived longer even though they were more obese. The exercise of choice were more the cardiorespiratory kind than the weight bearing ones. However, please note that it is best for women to have weight bearing exercises to keep their bone density up.
